Sometimes we focus so much on waiting for those “wings” – for the perfect moment, an external force, or the readiness to step out of the shadows – that we fail to notice we could be the wind ourselves.
This painting is a story about an intimate moment of self-embrace. It’s the moment when the fear of a new world (of the sun that might burn us) is still strong, and the comfort zone becomes a prison.
But within this gesture of protection, in the act of holding oneself, we find our own understanding and solace.
This is strength. This is acceptance. True wings are born within, not by waiting for tomorrow.
Mixed media (oil, oil pastels, rust activator) on canvas
The painting measures 80 cm x 80 cm.
